Never put your guitar away in its case, it crushes the velvet.

Always leave your guitar leaning up against a wall, preferably in front of a radiator.

Never follow string manufacturers' guidelines, after all, what do they know?

When travelling with your guitar, especially when flying, always tighten your strings up a semi-tone, you don't want anything coming loose do you?

Never change your strings regularly, well rusted strings will give you that 'dirty' sound you've always been striving for.

When placing your instrument on a guitar stand, put it in the middle of the room, looks great doesn't it? After all people appear to like having obstacles in their lives.

Paint stripper is the ideal solution to those annoying 'Made in Korea, Mexico or China' transfers, just slap it on and they're gone.

Always put steel strings on a classical guitar, after all you'll want the peace of mind to know that your guitar is put together using only the finest aircraft glue.

Never cut your left hand fingernails, it will give your fingerboard that great 'sculptured' look.

To 'freshen up' your guitar leave it out in the rain overnight, one night should do it.

If any of your frets are causing your strings to 'buzz' whack them down with a good sized hammer, this should cure it.

And finally, when cleaning your guitar, don't waste money on proprietary guitar polishes, make your own, a mixture of petrol and coarse sand will remove all those finger marks, followed by a good scrubbing with a kitchen scouring pad, then apply, by hand, the final polish, this consists of 8 parts rancid butter to 3 parts creosote (mix this in a good sized bucket, you don't want to run out do you?) Towards the end of mixing add a small jar of Marmite, cover the whole of the guitar (no need to remove the strings) then leave it in the sun for a minimum of 2 hours, a final buffing with a brillo pad will leave you guitar gleaming in all it's showroom glory.
